Air New Zealand has enlisted Michelin-starred Kiwi chef Josh Emett as its ‘culinary ambassador’.

Emett is the only New Zealand chef to have collected Michelin stars across three different restaurants in London, New York, and Los Angeles.
In his new role he will focus on showcasing New Zealand produce, hospitality and elevated cuisine across the Air New Zealand premium dining experience.
At a launch event in his Onslow restaurant in Auckland last night, Emett said it was a long-held ambition to work with NZ.
He will design a selection of sig nature dishes to feature alongside NZ’s existing onboard menu across premium economy, business premier and business premier luxe, on all long-haul flights out of Auckland and select flights from North America.
. . . Further Back
NZ’s head of culinary Justin Koen says the airline is concentrating on food to promote wellness and sleep.
On flights leaving after 2200 passengers are offered a supper soon after take-off to give them a chance to sleep. In economy there are bigger challenges, he adds, because of the number of meals.
But new desserts have been added and work is under way to change food options further back on planes.
“We are going to do more,” he says (pictured with Nikhil Ravishankar). “We’re doing a strategic reset at the moment so we’ll see what comes out of that and we’ll definitely be focussing on it,’’ he says.
