Qantas is the world’s most punctual major airline, according to latest figures.

Air travel data provider OAG says 87.18% of QF flights arrived on time in Jun. That tops Colombian carrier Avianca (87%) and Indigo (86.64%). QF was also in the top three of major airlines, with more than 20,000 flights a month, in May, reflecting a long-term improvement in OTP as new technology and aircraft are brought into service. The Australian Financial Review described QF’s top ranking feat as “pulling off the unthinkable’’ after punctuality problems following the pandemic.

. . . NZ Slips

In the large airline category (airlines operating 10,000-20,000 flights) NZ slipped from fifth in May to eighth in Jun with 84.42% OTP but was ranked ahead of Virgin Australia (18th) and Jetstar (24th). Flights that arrive within 15 minutes of the schedule are considered on time.

Across all airlines, Garuda Indonesia continues to be most punctual. At the bottom of the list is India’s Spice Jet, placing 145th with just 37.69% of flights on time.
