Premium travel is becoming more tailored, and affordable, as Delta Airlines unveils a new Basic Business fare option.
Designed for those seeking premium product at a lower price point, the fare option is available across Delta First, Delta Premium Select and Delta One cabins, essentially allowing clients to access the premium onboard experience with less benefits on the ground.
For example, Delta One check-in and Delta One Lounge access are not included in the fare, and there will be no access to Delta Sky Clubs unless the passenger holds a Delta Sky Club membership or an access-granting eligible credit card.
Other points of difference for Basic Business fares include seats being assigned after check-in, a reduced checked bag allowance and lower mileage earnings, and fees for changes or cancellations. There will also be no complimentary or paid upgrades, and no same-day confirmed or same-day standby travel changes. There is no difference in the onboard experience for Basic, Classic and Extra fares.
DL’s cco Joe Esposito says this expansion gives customers more ways to choose the DL experience that best fits their trip, and a new way to access premium tier products.
“No matter the fare, every customer can expect the thoughtful service, comfort and care that continues to set Delta apart,” he adds.
Basic Business for Delta Premium Select and Delta One is available for purchase now, for travel from Sep on domestic and select longhaul international market. Travel Today understands that this does not currently include routes between Australia/New Zealand and the US, though more routes are to be added. Details on this new option can be found HERE.
