Qantas’ Project Sunrise has been delayed again, reportedly due to supply chain issues, and the first of its 12 A350-1000ULR aircraft is now expected to be delivered in early 2027, rather than late 2026.

A Qantas spokesperson told Travel Today the first aircraft is now expected to be delivered in Apr 2027, with the next four to follow in quick succession, putting the wider project back on track by Nov 2027.
At the end of last year QF said the first commercial Project Sunrise service would commence in the first half of 2027. QF did not say if this delivery delay will change that, nor the reasons for the delay, though widespread reports cite those ongoing supply chain issues for the latter.
The spokesperson says QF continues to work closely with Airbus on the delivery and certification process, adding that test flights are just weeks away, and that pilot training is well underway at its new A350 simulator in Sydney.
