Air New Zealand has today announced plans to increase capacity between Auckland and Singapore, in response to growing demand over the northern winter 2026 season (25 Oct-27 Mar 2027), in conjunction with NZ’s alliance with Singapore Airlines.

The carrier is adding four more return services per week on the route, operated by Boeing 777 or 787 aircraft.
The new AKL-SIN flight NZ280 will operate Mon, Tue, Thu and Sat, and the new NZ279 SIN AKL flight will operate Tue, Thu, Sat and Sun. Last week, NZ also announced a new Christchurch SIN non-stop seasonal service later this year.
. . . SQ Update
As a result, SQ advises agents that it will adjust its schedule from three daily flights to two, removing SQ288/SQ287.
SQ285 and SQ286 will then be operated by a larger A380 (replacing the 777-300ER) and SQ281/ SQ282 will switch from the A350 to the 777-300ER.
Together, SQ and NZ will increase overall seat capacity between the two countries by 17% from late Oct, adding more than 72,000 seats, bringing the total number of seats over the northern winter 2026 to 490,000. NZ says between the two airlines, Kiwi travellers can access South East Asia, India, the UK, Europe and more.
