Marc Letourneau has been named Club Med’s general manager of Pacific, charged with overseeing New Zealand and Australia.
He has succeeded Michelle Davies, who is relocating to Kuala Lumpur to take on an expanded leadership role across Singapore, Malaysia and emerging markets in Southeast Asia.
Letourneau most recently spent six years leading Club Med’s Japan and South Korea markets and has 28 years of experience with the business. He previously had spent two and a half years as MICE sales manager before serving seven years as sales manager for Australia and New Zealand, before other Asia Pacific appointments.
“Returning home to Australia feels like coming full circle, and I’m pleased to be working again within a market I know so well. Having spent the past six years leading our Japan and South Korea markets, I’m looking forward to bringing those insights and experiences back to the Pacific, particularly as Japan continues to boom in popularity among Kiwi travellers,” says Letourneau.
“As an avid skier, I’m passionate about our mountain destinations and the distinctive experiences Club Med offers in this space.”
. . . New Opportunity
In addition, with new resorts in Borneo, Manado and Koh Samui on the horizon, and planned significant investment in its existing resorts, Letourneau says Club Med has an exciting opportunity to build on its position ‘as a leader in premium all-inclusive holidays’.
“My focus will be on continuing to build awareness and trust across New Zealand and Australia, showcasing the breadth of our destinations and the quality of the experience we deliver, and inspiring more travellers to discover Club Med.”
. . . Davies
Letourneau says Davies leaves a strong foundation in the Pacific, ‘and I look forward to building on that momentum with the team and our industry partners’ Under Davies’ leadership, Club Med also says its Pacific team has delivered record-breaking performance and continued to win Most Popular Accommodation Group at the Australian NTIAs for three consecutive years.
Davies says she’s incredibly proud of what the team achieved together, ‘from delivering record-breaking performance, particularly across our ski portfolio, to successfully showcasing our evolving resort portfolio to the market’.
“These achievements are a testament to the dedication of our Pacific team and the strong relationships we’ve built with our travel industry partners…”
