The Kiwi mountaineer, son of Sir Edmund Hillary, will take part in onboard discussions, share meals with guests and join expedition activities during the voyages, says the cruise line.

He has participated in more than 50 mountaineering expeditions, including five to Mt Everest, and has completed the Seven Summits and skied to the South Pole.

His expeditions have included a 5000km, 10-month traverse of the Himalayas and an aviation journey to the North Pole with his father and astronaut Neil Armstrong.

Hillary has appeared in National Geographic films covering Everest, Antarctica and polar exploration.

His 2002 Everest expedition featured in the documentary Everest: 50 Years on the Mountain, marking the anniversary of his father’s historic ascent.

He also chairs the Himalayan Trust, continuing his family’s philanthropic work across Nepal.

Lindblad Expeditions ceo Natalya Leahy says Hillary has a longstanding relationship with the company and would bring his experience and perspective to the voyages.

He will be aboard two Alaska sailings in May, Alaska’s Inside Passage and Hubbard Glacier and then Alaska’s Inside Passage, Endicott Arm and Prince Rupert and then an Antarctica Direct ‘sail and fly the Drake Passage’ in Dec.

The program adds an expert guest to Lindblad’s Alaska and Antarctica itineraries for 2027. See details on the voyages HERE.
