Auckland Airport is catering to the growing rise in wellness travel with a new beauty zone launching soon—home to luxury brands as well as trending brands, including those from Korea.
AKL cco Mark Thomson says the airport company is seeing strong demand for skincare and everyday premium beauty as well as premium and niche fragrances. The new space will offer AKL more flexibility to embrace trends as certain products surge in popularity, such as Hourglass, Prada Beauty and Urban Decay. AKL also plans to embrace the global rise of Korean beauty, or K-beauty, with a selection of more than 10 K-beauty brands joining the AKL line-up, from Anua to Isntree and Biodance. “Korean skincare is something our customers are increasingly looking for, it’s a major growth area in beauty right now,” says Thomson. Two new standalone stores will open later this year as well, Aesop and Le Labo, located next to the main departure’s duty-free store.
. . . Bars Too
The airport will also welcome more food and beverage outlets this year. Thomson says new dining spaces and a mix of local and international brands will be opening progressively throughout the redevelopment. This follows the debut of new bar The Mixologist as well as the opening of a Victoria’s Secret store in international departures. The retail refurbishment is expected to be completed in Dec.
