Emirates has released details of what it calls an industry-first travel insurance product that handles medical cover for conflict-related incidents—backed by airline-managed hotel accommodation and extended stay support in case of disruption.

The cover is available at ‘accessible’ premiums at the time of bookings and not restricted by government travel advice, adds the carrier.
The EK move comes as many other insurance plans will not pay out for disruption in areas affected by ‘Do Not Travel’ warnings, as most of the Middle East is subject to from New Zealand.

In a bid to restore confidence following war in the Middle East, EK says when itineraries include connecting to other airlines or EK services are unavailable, it will also rebook disrupted customers to their destination at no additional cost, including where flights have been cancelled due to conflict-related disruption.
Expanded medical cover is by Travel Guard, and additional to disruption support by EK. Newly added conflict cover provides reimbursement for medical expenses of up to USD25,000 and a free trip extension of up to 30 days.

UAE airline Etihad announced this week it would offer free medical travel insurance for international visitors travelling through or to Abu Dhabi until the end of the year.
Double Qantas Points Qantas is offering double QF Points on select flights from New Zealand to the US, including American Airlines flights with a QF number.
This means frequent flyer members can earn up to 31,700 points + 140 status credits on return Auckland to New York flights in economy, or 55,340 points + 360 Status Credits on return Business class flights to Dallas Fort Worth, adds QF.
