Air New Zealand ceo Nikhil Ravishankar says artificial intelligence (AI) is moving at warp speed and living up to the expectations of the airline.

“From our airline’s perspective, it’s really about enhancing the human, we’re using AI in many ways,’’ he said in an International Air Transport Association(IATA) interview.
Ravishankar says NZ is using AI to personalise service, and that AI can do the jobs that people don’t necessarily like doing and free them up to do what they enjoy.
The technology is useful for positioning the airline in a very ‘noisy’ world by personalising messaging around the country and the airline.
. . . The Outlook
While NZ faces a full-year financial loss of more than $400 million, Ravishankar told IATA media there’s lots to be optimistic about, given its home base.
“I come from a part of the world, New Zealand, that is a safe harbour, so to speak.”
On leadership, he says the trait he needs to demonstrate more often than not is the ability to hold two opposing thoughts and still be able to function.
“The world is no longer black and white. And I argue, never was.”
. . . India?
Following the IATA meeting, Indian media are reporting long-standing ambitions by NZ to establish direct links to India, although no time frame has been set.
