Wendy Wu Tours New Zealand has reported its ‘best month ever’ for Sep, and New Zealand md Paul Dymond says that the sales trend is now continuing in to Oct.
Agents are said to be driving ‘much of the growth’, as he adds that the company has just recorded its ‘single biggest week ever’ in trade bookings from New Zealand.
China and Japan are still dominating the top destinations, but Dymond says Sri Lanka (pictured below) is its fastest growing destination, with over 600% growth over the previous year. “Sri Lanka has been doing a lot of promotions and has been included in a lot of ‘must’ places to go lists in many publications,” he adds.
Dymond attributes the brand’s continued Kiwi sales momentum to a number of factors, including its higher Kiwi profile.
“The certainty of the cost when on a fully inclusive tour comes up constantly when we survey customers,” he says. “Demand is up in all fields, but there is a growth in women travelling, either solo or with other women friends or groups.”
Dymond also reports a spike in the number of Kiwi consultants who are opting to take their own client groups with Wendy Wu.
. . . New Tours
To meet the changing demand, Wendy Wu Tours has increased its departures to Sri Lanka including new trips that combine a beach stay in the Maldives, or a tour that sees the highlights of the South of India, including a night on the house boats in Kerala, and then a tour around Sri Lanka.
The operator also has released a new Sri Lanka festive departure, that gives clients a unique opportunity to have Christmas lunch up in the tea plantation after one of the world’s most scenic rail journeys, adds Dymond.
. . . Agent Deals
For agents looking to experience the product themselves, Dymond reminds Kiwi consultants that Wendy Wu offers 50% off land-only group tours for agents who have sold Wendy Wu Tours and 25% off for their partner, subject to terms, conditions and availability.
