The State of Washington is famed for its outdoor offerings, which Kiwis can explore via road trips and in partnership with an Alaskan cruise.
Port of Seattle’s tourism development manager Chantelle Lusebrink says the state has some of the most scenic drives in the US, pointing out that its three national parks are easily accessible from Seattle as either a day trip or part of a multi-day itinerary.
“From rugged Pacific Coast beaches and snow-capped mountains to sun-soaked deserts, dense rainforests and glimmering lakes, the state’s diverse landscapes make it easy to get outside in every season,” she says.
Another selling point for Kiwis, she adds is that it is the second highest wine producing state.
“Washington wine country is a region that should be on every traveller’s list.”
. . . Cruise
On the cruise front, Seattle is the largest cruise port on the West Coast of the US, and Lusebrink points out that this year’s cruise season features 300 sailings. Kiwis are encouraged to make a ‘larger itinerary’ combining British Columbia and Washington as part of the Alaska Cruise season, with Lusebrink saying there are ‘incredible’ pre- and post-cruise itineraries for any age and ability.

For those who wish to know more about the state, Lusebrink says Visit Seattle will also be attending the Visit USA shows later in the year, and that its Aussie trade team is on hand to assist agents.
