Agents are optimistic when it comes to demand for luxury travel in 2027 and beyond, though value is playing an increasingly important role, shows the latest Virtuoso Luxe Report.
The study highlights a rise in ‘fancyflations’, or high-end travellers looking for destinations where their budget will go the furthest, and favouring places that deliver full-tilt luxury at a friendlier price. That mindset, says Virtuoso, is adding to the appeal of ‘alternative destinations’ such as Vietnam, Egypt and Albania. A focus on value has also meant a rise in multi-city trips, or ‘city-maxxing’, it adds.
Other notable trends include the rise of multi-generational travel to the top trend spot for 2027, followed by expedition. These two trends often combine, with multi-gen groups taking to the seas together, which Virtuoso labels ‘Gen-XYZ-peditions’.
All-inclusive experiences topped the ultraluxe travel experience list, followed by celebration travel.
Celebrating a milestone is the top for travel motivations, followed by the excitement of exploring a new destination and spending time with loved ones. Solo trends, health and wellness topped the in-demand experiences list, followed by guided tours and expedition cruising.
