Tourism Fiji ceo Dr Paresh Pant has been meeting with key trade partners this week to discuss its opportunities and challenges, Including the controversial new Tourism Services Tax (TST).
Pant says collaboration with the industry remains central as Fiji tourism continues to grow. “Working with the industry to support each other is critical to ensuring we can navigate changes, respond to opportunities and continue delivering a strong tourism proposition for visitors from New Zealand.”
The rollout of the TST was among the key topics discussed during the talks. Tourism Fiji New Zealand regional director Sonya Lawson reiterated that its Kiwi trade partners play an important role in selling Fiji, and that these discussions help ensure it understands the trade’s needs, and can continue to provide the support and information they need to confidently sell Fiji.
. . . From TAANZ
TAANZ has welcomed Pant’s visit to New Zealand. The agent body’s ceo Julie White says that TAANZ values the opportunity to strengthen its Tourism Fiji partnership through regular, constructive engagement, ensuring the Kiwi trade has a voice at the table and that it can work together early on issues to avoid any implementation gaps such as those experienced with the TST.
“Having a strong and united industry voice is critical, and the very positive feedback we received from members reinforced the value of TAANZ advocating clearly and constructively on behalf of the wider travel trade,” she adds.
