For clients heading to the US over the Thanksgiving (Thu 26 Nov) holiday period, Brand USA has a summary of events around the nation.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York City celebrates its 100th parade in 2026, while America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Parade in Plymouth, Massachusetts, is billed as the country’s only historically accurate parade and is also celebrating its 100th anniversary.
There’s also Philadelphia’s 6abc Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade and America’s Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit, the latter also celebrating its 100th anniversary. Chicago and Houston’s Thanksgiving parades are also notable, adds Brand USA.
. . . Official Pardon
An honourable mentioned goes to the annual Thanksgiving lunch at Willard InterContinental Washington, DC.
This is the hotel where the USA’s National Thanksgiving Turkeys (pictured) get to stay before they receive their official presidential pardon at the White House, says Brand USA.
. . . Sports
Thanksgiving wouldn’t be complete without American football, and this year there are five games across three days.
Kicking things off, literally, is a match between the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams on Thanksgiving Eve in Los Angeles, while on Thanksgiving Day the Detroit Lions play the Chicago Bears in Detroit, the Dallas Cowboys face the Philadelphia Eagles in Arlington Texas, and the Kansas City Chiefs head to Buffalo New York to play the Bills. Pittsburgh closes out the holiday, with the Steelers versus the Denver Broncos the day after Thanksgiving. See more on US festive fun HERE.
