TAANZ has teamed up with Service IQ in an effort to make it easier and more affordable for travel agency owner operators and managers to build highly qualified teams, and has launched a new co-funded workforce training initiative and recognition for experienced agents.
The project offers subsidised places for TAANZ members on the New Zealand Certificate in Travel Corporate and Retail and Te Haeata New Zealand Certificate in Business Events, which TAANZ ceo Julie White says will help consultants gain formal, industry-recognised qualifications. The pair also has a new Experienced Consultant Award, for seasoned travel professionals who have real-world experience but don’t hold a formal NZQA qualification. But it uses a fast-track assessment process that recognises the skills and knowledge agents have gained on the job, rather than traditional study, and offers an NZQA-recognised credential.

The New Zealand Certificate in Travel-Level 4 retail or corporate costs $111 with the subsidy (normally $211), while Te Haeata New Zealand Certificate in Business Events Level 4 is $250 with the subsidy (normally $500). Agents may register HERE, and will only need to pay the subsidised rate with ServiceIQ, as TAANZ says it will then arrange to top up the funding directly.
Agents who have at least five years’ experience in the industry can register their interest in the Experience Consultant Award by emailing Elaine Kellett from Service IQ HERE. This will be $250 with the subsidy, $750 without.
