
Grocery stores are becoming an increasingly popular destination for travellers, a trend fuelled by videos across social media—and a new study has named the bites that are trending for travellers.
InsureAndGo, which cites grocery store tourism as one of the biggest travel trends of the year, ranks China’s Fumang Propitious Mango Ice Cream as the most desired international snack.
The insurer analysed search data from TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube to identify the supermarket products that have seen the biggest rise in interest over the past year, and found the mango shaped ice cream has seen a 436% increase in social searches over those 12 months. In second was Tesco Finest Belgian Chocolate Cookies from the UK, with searches up 94%, year-on-year, while the third most in-demand snack for travellers was Mexico’s Marinela Pingüinos, with the crème-filled snack cake’s searches up 83%.
In the US, travellers are seeking out condiment Trader Joe’s Chili Onion Crunch, sitting in fourth place, while Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookie Butter sat in sixth, with Norwegian brown cheese Tine Brunost (Gudbrandsdalsost) is in fifth.

In Taiwan, travellers are seeking out Kuai Kaui Coconut Corn Puffs, while Malaysia’s top bite is Mister Potato Chips Original Salted Egg, and Singapore’s was Khong Guan Iced Gem Biscuits.
7-Eleven Japan Tamago Sando (egg sandwiches), as well as FamilyMart Japan Famichiki with the fried chicken often purchased in conjunction with sweet pancakes.
Europe’s sweet trending treats were: Belgium’s Côte d’Or Mignonnette chocolate bars, France’s Crêpes Dentelles Gavottes in Chocolat, and Poland’s marshmallow candy Wedel Ptasie Mleczko.
