The Port of Seattle is reporting growing interest from Kiwi travellers in exploring Seattle as the gateway to Alaska.
“Seattle has so much to offer, from the Pike Place Market to Mt Rainier, and we want agents to feel confident selling a pre- or post-cruise stay alongside an Alaska sailing,” says Port of Seattle trade director Millie Browne. “The Port of Seattle booth at Cruise360 [last week] gives us a fantastic opportunity to connect face-to-face with the New Zealand trade and build on the momentum we’re seeing in this market.”
Browne says Seattle is positioning itself to capture more of that momentum. The port is forecasting a record 2.1 million passengers in 2026, up from 1.9 million in 2025, across up to 330 vessel calls from 16 homeported ships, its biggest season in more than two decades.
