The PS Australian Star has set sail, and APT says the five-star paddlesteamer is the ‘perfect cruise’ for Kiwis looking to sail close to home.

Launched by Murray River Paddle-steamers and its parent company, The APT Travel Group, the riverboat accommodates 38 guests across 19 staterooms with ensuites.
It also has a gourmet restaurant, outdoor relaxation areas, a passenger lift to all decks, air-conditioning and free Starlink wifi.
Cher Lontok, gm product & operations Australia New Zealand for APT Travel Group, says the Murray is a popular destination for New Zealanders, particularly those looking for a relaxed style of travel with authentic local experiences. “Kiwi travellers have always resonated with the Murray River for its food and wine, history, and heritage, and we’re continuing to see strong interest in immersive regional experiences that go beyond Australia’s major hubs.”

And with this new vessel, the cruise can be done ex Melbourne return, or ex Sydney return, she adds. “The PS Australian Star offers the perfect cruise for New Zealand guests looking for a close-to-home option that offers both convenience and a distinctly Australian experience, offering a unique style of overnight river cruising that isn’t available in New Zealand,” says Lontok.
