The National Geographic Signature with G Adventures collection has 17 new trips, as the tour operator reports demand for community tourism in the luxury travel space.
G Adventures vp product Yves Marceau says there has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the product, which he adds demonstrates travellers are looking for trips that align strongly with their values. “They still expect outstanding service and comfort, but increasingly they’re looking for experiences that broaden their perspective.”
There are now 67 trips across 48 destinations, all focused on helping tourism deliver lasting benefits to the communities that host them. They are all accompanied by National Geographic expedition experts in fields such as history, conservation, geology and archaeology. Each trip also has an experienced National Geographic expedition leader, and ‘once-in a-lifetime’ Signature Moments such as exploring Norway’s Fjord Centre. New trips include the eight-day Signature: Rwanda’s Primate Kingdoms, on which clients will trek through the forests of Nyungwe in search of chimpanzees and through Volcanoes National Park to observe mountain gorillas, joining scientists leading conservation efforts. Prices start from $30,899 per person.
Also new is the seven-day Signature: Ecuador’s Amazon Rainforest & Andean Highlands, taking in Quito and the Amazon, with experiences including after-hours access to the Intiñan Museum, crafting traditional marzipan and searching for wildlife in the Amazon alongside a naturalist. Prices are from $11,099pp.
