More Kiwis Opt For Luxe Fiji Options

Fiji’s luxury offering is increasingly appealing to Kiwi travellers as a high-class close-to-home option, says Tourism Fiji.Sonya Lawson from Tourism Fiji, Royal Davui Island Fiji's Grant Seylhouwer, Jennifer Grayson from Nanuku Resort Fiji

Sonya Lawson, Tourism Fiji regional director New Zealand, says the nation’s luxury accommodation representatives have reported an increase in business from New Zealand, particularly for extended family holidays, multi-gen groups or milestone celebrations. “As people aren’t wanting to travel as far afield, they realise they can get that full luxury experience so close to home,” she says.

Tourism Fiji and luxury operators met with agents in Auckland and Christchurch this week. “We’re doing as much as we can to encourage consumer awareness, trade distribution, and then travel agent knowledge.”

She says Fiji as a destination continues to perform well. “There’s still opportunity and availability there, and we’ve seen a really steady business into Fiji this year, which is really encouraging.” “We know that there’s that really strong relationship between Fiji and New Zealand, and we will continue to do what we can to foster it.” She says agents are a key to Fiji’s success. “It’s really delightful to see the agents as engaged as they are.”

. . . Matai Database

The best place for agents to upskill, see upcoming famil and roadshow opportunities or even check updated accommodation availability for last-minute bookings, is the Matai Specialist Fiji Database. She says they try to keep accommodation information as updated as possible, but it currently works to give agents an idea of what is available. See more details HERE.
