Options include contemporary B&B The Breac.House in Dunfanaghy, County Donegal. Rooms have an inside-outside feel, a sauna and seaweed bath are available, and there’s nearby walking trails.

At the Fernwood eco-conscious luxury retreat in Clifden clients can pick from a Treehouse Dome (pictured), or Stilt House with floor to ceiling windows. While Cappoquin, County Waterford is home to The Cabin Under The Hill, an off-grid, solar-powered accommodation with views over the Blackwater Valley.

Samsú in Westmeath and Wicklow has three cabins each located an hour from Dublin, with wood stoves, outdoor roll-top baths, forest saunas sur rounded by acres of Irish woodland.
