A pared down international travel showcase is underway in Florida, but the sentiment is upbeat at IPW 2026.
Kiwi attendance at the show is down, as are recent visitor arrivals from New Zealand—but US tour ism stakeholders are firmly focused on the future .
Visit USA New Zealand chairman Corey Marshall says improved connectivity and smoother arrivals processes, such as the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app are helping drive renewed interest in the US, at the annual Australasian launch event.
Fort Lauderdale tourism leaders equally emphasise that the destination offers more than being a gateway to Orlando and its theme parks. The region boasts 482kms of golden beaches, more than 300 miles of waterways and a rich multicultural identity shaped by residents from 170 countries.
Marshall also highlights outdoor experiences and major sporting events as strong drawcards for Kiwis, particularly as the US prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary year.
The sentiment at IPW is notably optimistic, with one attendee observing that softer Canadian demand is prompting US destinations to look more closely at alternative international markets. “New Zealand and Australia rep resent a great opportunity,” the delegate says.
