Outback Queensland offers some of the state’s most memorable night-sky views, and for clients keen to star gaze Tourism and Events Queensland has a few recommendations.
The first is Charlotte Plains, a sheep station offering campsites and cabins complete with hot outdoor baths offering views of the surrounding landscape and the night sky.
For a more educational night sky experience, clients can take a guided tour at the Charleville Cosmos Centre, home to specialised telescopes and Queensland’s largest planetarium.

There’s also the Australian Age of Dinosaurs in Winton, which Outback Queensland says is one of ©Charleville Cosmos Centre the country’s best spots to view the night sky thanks to its giant open top Gondwana Stars Observatory. Further north, Cobbold Gorge gets a mention.
While this area is better known for its caves, its views over the Milky Way are also said to be notable. The Cobbold Gorge offers a number of camping sites and ensuite cabins, as well as tours to its namesake gorge. See more details HERE.
