Wellness travel continues to trend, and for Kiwis looking for close-to-home options, Tasmania is among the destinations of choice, with wifi-free accommodations, walking tracks and numerous saunas and bathhouses.

For active relaxation, agents can recommend the 48km Three Capes Track, with the four-day walk exploring the Tasman Peninsula’s dramatic coastline.

The Tasmanian Walking Company offers a guided luxury walk on the track that includes meals and support along the way.

The Parks and Wildlife Service also has a network of day walks for clients who are keen to go for just a few hours.

At the gentler end of the scale is Lake Derby’s Floating Sauna. The traditional Finnish-style sauna experience is combined with cold plunges into the lake.

There’s also Breathe Tasmania on Mt Wellington, where clients will find guided breathwork, forest bathing, cold-water immersion and more, all designed to regulate the nervous system and encourage genuine rest. Highlighted stays include Camp Nowhere in the Central Highlands, an off-grid property offering. Here, guests are encouraged to read, walk and embrace stillness. A similarly slow pace option is also on offer is Little Beach Co.

Glamping options between Wineglass Bay and the Bay of Fires on the east coast also offer saunas, sea swims and private hot tubs.

Rounding out the list is Arden Bathhouse & Arden Retreat, located just outside Richmond, featuring a wood-fired sauna, cold plunge and hot tub, as well as boutique stays.
