Tensions in the Middle East, and associated fuel concerns, are not deterring Kiwis from travelling to Fiji, as new data shows numbers to the island nation are rising.

Fiji recorded its strongest Mar on record with 71,765 visitors, up 12% on 2025, says Tourism Fiji. And Kiwi Mar arrivals are growing at an even faster pace, up 15% to 12,483—reinforcing New Zealand’s position as one of the destination’s core visitor markets, adds the Bureau.
Tourism Fiji ceo Dr Paresh Pant (pictured) says the results high light continued demand from New Zealand at an important time in the booking cycle, with winter ahead. “New Zealand is a key market for Fiji, and a 15% increase in Mar is a strong result,” Dr Pant says.
“It reflects continued demand from Kiwi travellers and provides a solid lead-in to the winter travel period.” Alongside rising visitation, Tourism Fiji reports stronger digital demand from New Zealand, with year-to-date website traffic up 40% on the same period last year, alongside a noticeable increase in booking referrals.
. . . Trends
The NTO says forward booking trends are tracking in line with last year’s peak season. Airline capacity from New Zealand is also increasing, going into the winter peak with weekly seat capacity on the Auckland to Nadi route scheduled to rise from 6515 seats in May to 8768 in Jul.
On the topic of fuel, Tourism Fiji says supply remains stable and forward demand indicators are steady over the next three-to-six months.
Fiji Airways’ md and ceo Paul Scurrah saying yesterday that it remains committed to maintaining global connectivity for customers.
“Our forward bookings continue to be encouraging and reflect a level of increased interest in Fiji as a safe and family-friendly destination,” he adds. See more on Fiji HERE.
