Kiwis are increasingly looking for getaways that blend comfort with cultural depth and are closer to home, says Plateau International, which is high lighting its trade-friendly experiences that fit this trend.

“Our portfolio is deliberately curated to uncover exceptional luxury experiences that aren’t always front-of-mind in the market, from character-rich boutique stays to immersive river cruises and specialist DMCs known for creating tailored itineraries,” says Plateau International founder and md Marco Rosa. “Everything we do is built with the travel trade in mind.”
In Indonesia, Rosa says while Bali is a perennially popular destination with Aussies and Kiwis, he is now seeing repeat visitation to explore new regions and islands in Indonesia beyond the classic hubs and routes. He highlights The Sanchaya on Indonesia’s Bintan Island (pictured), a one-hour ferry ride from Singapore, as a product that caters well to this. In Japan, Kiwis are said to be increasingly looking beyond the classic gateway cities to lesser-known regions and are also moving to year-round travel. For this he recommends companies such as XPERISUS, offering small group and individual itineraries in Japan that feature exclusive hotel and ryokan stays, private festival experiences and authentic cultural encounters. For the luxury-focused Fiji is trending. Rosa says all-inclusive high-end properties such as Wakaya Private Island Resort & Spa suit this type of client.
For the culturally curious, he says Vietnam and Cambodia are the go-to. “River cruising, in particular, is experiencing a renaissance as travellers seek slow travel that combines cultural immersion with comfort,” Rosa concludes. See more HERE.
