Two Canberra experiences have been added to one of Australia’s distinguished lists, the Cultural Attractions of Australia (CAOA), advises Tourism Canberra.
They are The National Portrait Gallery and the Australian Institute of Sport. The prestigious list also includes places like the MCG, Sydney Opera House, National Maritime Museum and MONA.
The National Portrait Gallery is a boutique art gallery experience that brings visitors face-to-face with portraits of those who have shaped Australia. The aim is to deepen understanding and appreciation of Australian identities, histories, cultures, creativity and diversity. Entry is free but some exhibitions are ticketed. See HERE.

The Australian Institute of Sport, a world-class facility says Tourism Canberra, offers visitors an immersive experience into the world of high-performance sport with interactive tours and exhibitions aimed at giving a deeper understanding of the country’s sporting achievements and the dedication behind them. Meanwhile, The Australian War Memorial has a new main entrance foyer, directly beneath the existing forecourt visitors can enter from the Sculpture Garden, Poppy’s café or the underground carpark.
The upgraded entry’s centre-piece is the Oculus, a circular skylight made from especially commissioned Spanish glass that visitors can look up through to the famous dome of the Hall of Memory or, from outside, down into the foyer.
