Avalon Waterways has released its new seasonal excursions for 2027, in response to a growing trend in preference for off-season travel.

For 2027 travel, passengers can pick experiences ranging from fruit-harvesting and vineyard tastings to culinary classes.
Avalon’s introduction of seasonal excursions follows increased demand for less crowded and more intentional travel, with its recent research showing that 75% of 10,000 Avalon cruisers saying they prefer to travel outside peak months.
This is supported by off-season year-on-year growth in demand and Avalon capacity.
. . . The New Luxury
Avalon says its research also shows that personalisation is ‘the new luxury’ for travellers. “Luxury in travel is being redefined. Increasingly, it’s isn’t about more; it’s about meaning.”
The Wish List survey of nearly 10,000 travellers found that 99% of cruisers deemed having a variety of shore excursions to be important when selecting a river cruise.
Avalon president Pam Hoffee, says excursions can entirely change a guest’s experience.
“Our new seasonal excursions connect our guests more deeply, and authentically, to the places they’re exploring. These are experiences that exist for a moment, and that’s exactly the point.”
The 2027 line-up also includes hands-on apricot picking and tastings in the south of France, apple picking in Normandy, and a range of traditional harvesting experiences across Europe.
Through Avalon Choice Excursions, guests can pick how to spend their day at each destination for a tailored experience. See more HERE.
