Next year it is 50 years since Elvis Presley exited stage left and Memphis is reportedly both ‘all shook up’ for the event and turning up the volume, says its tourism bureau.

The 50th anniversary is expected to generate significant international interest in Elvis Week, held in Aug, although official 2027 event dates, ticket packages and accommodation allocations are yet to be released.
Memphis Tourism’s Australia and New Zealand director Chris Ingram says three nights gives travellers time to experience Graceland and walk in Elvis’ footsteps, while also discovering the blues, soul, civil rights history, barbecue and Southern hospitality. This includes the Memphis Rock ’n’ Soul Museum, Sun Studio (pictured), where Elvis made his first recordings, Graceland, the Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Beale Street with live music in clubs and bars, and the National Civil Rights Museum.
Visitors with more time can follow the music beyond Memphis with the city and Nashville making a natural pairing, says the bureau. A stay of at least three nights in each city connects Graceland and Sun Studio with Nashville’s Historic RCA Studio B.
For an extra dose of Elvis, Tupelo, the birthplace of the King, can be added as a full-day private or small-group excursion.
For visitors who can’t get enough of the King, the journey can continue south through Mississippi to New Orleans, creating a Deep South road trip packed with music, food, history, Southern charm and wide-open roads. Sign up for Elvis Week details HERE and see Memphis Tourism HERE.
