AKL Travel Show: An Agent Opportunity

There’s just over two weeks until The Auckland Travel Show takes place, and its founder is urging agents to take advantage of the event.

Rob Eliott

Rob Eliott, founder of Lemongrass Productions Ltd and The Auckland Travel Show, says the event is an opportunity for people to come along and explore the world of travel.

He says agents can bring clients to the show, exploring destinations and product together and build itineraries with them, noting that the travellers that this event attracts are not those going on just one trip.

“As a travel agent, if you’ve got a couple of good clients, it’s a good opportunity to take them through and build not just one trip but you might start piecing together some more advanced travel itineraries for the next year or two.”

. . . More Retail Brands

Eliott is also urging retail brands to not just attend but consider joining the show next year as well.

While helloworld will be there in force this year, he is encouraging more brands to participate.

“We are keen to see the event work for all the travel industry,” he says. “Come down, check it out, make some new connections down at the event. And if it is something you want to be a part of, or see yourself in going forward, we’re very much open to that.”

Eliott believes there’s a lot of benefits to having agents at the event, as he says they offer the peace of mind that travellers are looking for in these uncertain times.

“You’re speaking to someone who has seen it all before, knows what the potential pitfalls might be if you’re going to a destination or doing an experience that’s new for you,” he says. “Why not have an expert that can be on the end of the phone to assist if it is required?”

The show is on at the New Zealand International Convention Centre 09–10 May and entry starts from $18pp. See more HERE.
