A Digital Detox In South Australia

As more travellers seek destinations where they can disconnect from technology, the South Australian Tourism Commission is shining a light on the off grid experiences in the state, from wifi-free forest cabins to remote outback retreats.

Topping the list CABN Off Grid Cabins (pictured), is a collection of fully off-grid and solar-powered cabins that are located across Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, the Clare Valley, Kangaroo Island and McLaren Vale. For a coastal cabin experience, there’s the minimalist Coorong Life Pods along the Coorong coast line. These off-grid cabins are just two hours south of Adelaide and famed for their ocean views.

Another off-grid escape known for its ocean views is Lost in Mount Osmond Skyline Retreat in the Adelaide foothills, with SATC say ing the retreat also boasts limited mobile reception and no wifi.

An honourable mention goes to Island Alive, offering secluded eco-accommodation surrounded by native bush and wildlife on Kangaroo Island with minimal mobile coverage and no wifi.

. . . Adventure

For clients who want to turn off their phones and have an adven ture, the SATC highlights the Arkaba Walk, a three-day guided luxury walking experience in Ikara-Flinders Ranges.

The experience, says the STO, showcases some of Australia’s most spectacular outback scenery with minimal phone reception. For more information on these experiences, see HERE.
