Air New Zealand is adding 28% more seats on its non-stop flights to Tasmania over summer with a fourth flight being added for nearly a month, later in the season.

Non-stop flights between Hobart and Auckland resumed at the weekend, with the Tasmanian government announcing a three-year commitment to continue growing the service. Through the Aviation Attraction Fund for the next three years there will be a longer operating season and increased capacity.
NZ uses A320/21 aircraft on the route, and its short-haul gm Lucy Hall says customers valued the convenience of flying direct. About 65% of those heading for HBA are Kiwis with others a mix from NZ’s other international connections.
. . . HBA’s Plans
Matt Cocker, HBA’s chief operating officer, says the airport is working towards extending the operating season and increasing both its capacity and frequency. “We have a three-year plan to grow the route, building on the demand we’ve already seen and giving Tasmanians and visitors greater confidence in the connection.”
Passengers at the weekend were the first to use HBA’s new bigger purpose-built international screening and border processing facility, including passport control.
