Scenic Group will have two ultra-luxury Scenic river ships sailing in India by 2029/30, exploring both the Brahmaputra and Hooghly rivers, as it says the nation has ‘extraordinary potential’.
The group has entered a strategic partnership with Assam Bengal Navigation, an operator with more than two decades of experience running river cruises on the Brahmaputra and Ganges.
Scenic says the move follows strong demand for Scenic Aura’s inaugural season on the Hooghly River, which the vessel will sail from Oct 2027.
Glen Moroney, founder and chair of the Scenic Group, says Scenic Aura is the first step in what he expects will be a long-term commitment to India. “Our partnership with Assam Bengal Navigation gives us the benefit of deep local expertise and an established operating platform, while allowing Scenic to bring its international experience in luxury cruising to the market.”

Scenic Aura’s 2027-28 season combines a 10-night Hooghly River cruise through West Bengal with land journeys across India and Sri Lanka. The new Brahmaputra River voyages will provide a natural complement to this Hooghly River program, it adds.
