Pearl Expeditions has released its 2028 sailing collection offering voyages across Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea aboard the purpose-built Paspaley Pearl.
The collection features voyages of seven to eleven days, each with a maximum of 30 guests on board, and a focus on moving beyond well-travelled cruise routes.
Highlights include expanded charter flight access, with dedicated services ex Cairns for Papua New Guinea departures and ex Darwin for Raja Ampat voyages. There are more Great Barrier Reef departures and revitalised Papua New Guinea itineraries, as well as a series of seven- and 10-day voyages in The Kimberley, and a Borneo expedition.
Pearl Expeditions executive chair, Sarina Bratton, says the 2028 Calendar of Sailings marks an important step in Pearl Expeditions’ growth, expanding its reach across Australia’s remote north and the Indo-Pacific while staying true to its intimate style of exploration.
Mick Fogg, gm, adds that the strength of this collection lies in the detail. “Guests might travel by local klotok riverboat through Tanjung Puting in search of endangered orangutans, spend time with Torres Strait Islander communities on the far-northern reef, explore carved ancestral villages in the Tanimbars, or sail into Arnhem Land with local insight guiding the experience.”

Itineraries include the 11-night Borneo and Beyond: Indonesia’s Big Three-Orangutans, Whale Sharks and Komodo Dragons, sailing ex Bali in Dec 2027 and Feb 2028, including rare access to orangutan research sanctuary Camp Leakey.
The Great Barrier Reef: Islands, Reefs and Traditions series that sails Oct–Nov, includes new sailings centred on Torres Strait Islander culture, such as the seven-night Torres Strait & Great Barrier Reef: Islands, Reefs & Traditions, sailing ex Thursday Island to Cairns.
