Aurora Expeditions’ 2025/2026 Antarctic season was the cruise line’s largest ever in the destination, and the cruise line is reporting a growing demand for deeper, more immersive exploration.

Aurora operated three ships simultaneously in Antarctica during the season, a significant milestone adds ceo Michael Heath.

“Delivering 30 voyages to Antarctica, including a return to East Antarctica, and operating three ships in the region for the first time reflects both our heritage and how we continue to evolve,” he says. The increase in ships saw the cruise line sail with 30% more passengers, to more destinations sailed with the Douglas Mawson reaching 78º 44.405’ south, marking a new world record of the southernmost voyage in history, it says.

Aurora also recorded 2835 polar plunges, delivered 269 onboard lectures, and saw expeditioners contribute thousands of hours to onboard Citizen Science programs supporting initiatives such as whale and seabird monitoring. Heath says the focus remains on delivering these experiences in a responsible way. Find out more HERE.
