Tourism Australia has announced plans to open the highest tier of its Aussie Specialist program, the Premier Aussie Specialists, to more Kiwi agents in the future.
This year a number of new agents joined the Premier fold, after being recognised as agents with ‘exceptional’ Australian destination knowledge and an established track record of selling Australia. And in 2028 it says there will be the option for more Kiwi agents to join the Premier tier.
Tourism Australia says interested agents will need to meet ‘rigorous’ qualification standards, have completed at least 20 training modules across all eight Australian states and territories, as well as regularly participating in annual professional development.
They also need firsthand travel experience across multiple regions and must be actively selling Australia.

The Premier title is well worth aiming for as benefits include priority placement on Tourism Australia’s consumer website, formal endorsement from national and state tourism organisations, and access to the official Premier logo to use on marketing.
There’s also early access to industry workshops and dedicated trade events, and online peer-peer learning sessions, it adds.
And then there’s the famils; this year Premier agents have already been on famils across Tasmania, South Australia, New South Wales, Canberra and Queensland.
