The Queensland Government has approved a Dreamworld proposed expansion which includes new mixed-use tourism and housing development.
Coast Entertainment and Dreamworld ceo Greg Yong says it is a ‘genuinely exciting outcome’ for the significant project.
“This decision creates a clear pathway for future value creation while laying the foundation for a landmark precinct that will help shape this part of the region for
generations,” he adds.

The proposed development establishes four core land use precincts across 55-hectares. The first is the Major Tourism Core which includes the existing Dreamworld and WhiteWater World theme parks. The second is a Nature-based Tourism Precinct planned for low-impact eco-tourism developments, including eco-tourism cabins and boardwalks. The third is a Gateway Precinct, an extension of the existing theme parks, providing for a range of uses such as a hotel, offices, short-term accommodation and more. The fourth is the Town Centre Transition Precinct, approved for bars, multiple dwellings, offices, a retirement facility and rooming accommodation.
