They say everything is bigger in Texas, and in Grapevine, that includes Christmas.

The destination is located 10 minutes from Dallas Fort Worth Airport, and Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau says this year it will stage more than 1400 festive events. Kicking things off on 23 Nov is the 38th Annual Carol of Lights festival on Historic Main Street.

Kiwis travelling to or through DFW over the festive break will be able to take in Grapevine’s Christmas lights, entertainment across multiple stages, and zoned activity areas, including holiday bounce houses.

Other events to check out include the Merry & Bright Christmas Drone Show, featuring a fleet of 400
drones, taking place on 07 Dec, as well as the 47th Annual Parade of Lights on 03 Dec. The latter is the largest Christmas light parade in North Texas, withs 100 floats and marching bands journeying along
Historic Main Street.

. . . Attractions

Kiwis in town over the 40-day festive period who miss the afore- mentioned big events, will find plenty of other experiences on offer, including the Peace Plaza Ice Rink, a Texas-sized outdoor ice rink at Grapevine Main Station. It’s also worth taking a stroll through Grapevine’s Historic Main Street district, which will be adorned with festive lights and decorations. Clients can also take a ride on the North Pole Express, a 45-minute train journey that the tourism body says is filled with twinkling lights, festive singalongs and special visits from the elves and Santa Claus.

For the ‘grown-ups’, agents can recommend Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s Christmas Wine Trains, a journey in a decorated coach that includes a Texas wine tasting.

An honorable mention also goes to Historic Palace Theatre, featuring classic Christmas movies and live
Broadway-style performances all season long.

For those looking at where to stay the tourism body recommends the Gaylord Texan Resort, home to ice!, a collection of hand-carved ice sculptures and Great Wolf Lodge, which turns into a Winter Wonderland with daily snow showers, dance parties, Christmas activities and more.

Tickets to many of these events and experiences go on sale 01 Oct, with agents urged to secure these sooner rather than later as some experiences such as the North Pole Express do sell out. See HERE.
