Noosa is not a new destination for Kiwi travellers—New Zealand is actually the destination’s largest international market by visitor spend—but Tourism Noosa is looking to raise the destination’s trade profile with Kiwi agents on the back of its increased air connectivity.
Tourism Noosa ceo Sharon Raguse says New Zealand continues to be one of Noosa’s most important international markets, with demand steadily growing. “New Zealand is now Noosa’s largest international market by visitor spend, contributing a record AUD58 million in 2025, and our second-largest international market by visitor numbers, with 27,000 New Zealanders visiting the region last year,” she says. “Visitor spend has more than doubled since pre-covid levels, highlighting the value of this market to the destination.”
Raguse is positive about that potential for further growth, highlighting the destination as easy to access from Sunshine Coast Airport, which now features a seasonal service ex Auckland from Air New Zealand as well as year-round thrice-weekly flights from Jetstar.
Noosa is an easy getaway for Kiwi travellers, and the winter months are one of the best times to visit, with sunny days, warm ocean temperatures and fewer crowds, she adds. “From world-class dining and wellness retreats to coastal adventures, hinterland escapes and eco-conscious experiences, Noosa offers something for every traveller.”
And as travellers look for more sustainable nature-focused getaways, Raguse points out that Noosa is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, World Surfing Reserve and Australia’s first destination to achieve Silver EarthCheck certification. “For travel agents, Noosa is a destination that consistently delivers a premium Australian holiday experience while allowing visitors to connect with nature, community and the values that make the destination so special,” she says.
