Nepal is rising in popularity in New Zealand, bolstered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade lowering its travel advisory to the country earlier this year.

In response Community Homestay Network has expanded its range of commissionable Nepal packages, which are now guaranteed to depart.

The new tours come as the Nepali government announces a Visit Nepal 2028 national tourism campaign, which aims to double visitor spending and attract 2.5 million tourists by 2029, with a focus on diversifying tourism beyond mountain trekking.

Founder of Community Homestay Network, Shiva Dhakal, says the timing couldn’t be better for the expansion of its portfolio. “The support of community-led experiences such as those offered by Community Homestay Network will provide travellers with richer experiences across our stunning country,” he says. “All our itineraries are co-created with local communities and are designed to amplify their voices and stories, and to share their way of life with travellers while empowering them in their own entrepreneurship journeys.”

There’s also a nine-day Live The Tharu Way: Journey Through Culture, Wildlife and Rural Life, ex Kathmandu to Terai, with experiences such as time with the indigenous Tharu people in Bhada and Bardiya, and jeep safaris searching for elephants and tigers.
