There are changes underway at Global Touring, with it reintroducing dedicated brand teams and increasing trade support across key markets as it responds to growing confidence in the small group touring category.
At the top Charles Knowlton, the current global gm of experience, will become gm Back-Roads and coo, while current cmo George Shuttlewood will be gm of Topdeck and Grasshopper and cmo. Both will continue to report to md Ed Pettitt, who leads Global Touring globally.
. . . Fawcett Promoted
Locally, Trevor Thwaites (pictured above on right) has been named director of sales APAC, charged with leading the Australia and New Zealand market sales function. He steps into the role as current gm Asia Pacific Anna Fawcett (pictured above on left) transitions into the newly-created role of gm global sales, relocating to the USA where she will lead the growth of Back-Roads across the region while retaining oversight for Asia Pacific.
. . . New BDMS
Global Touring will also appoint dedicated leadership teams and brand-specific business development managers for Back-Roads across Australia and New Zealand, charged with hitting the road and strengthening day-to-day support for trade partners. The restructuring comes as Pettit reports four years of rapid growth for Back-Roads, with it having more than doubled in size since the Covid-19 pandemic.
. . . Trade Upside
“For our trade partners, this means greater strength in depth, clearer brand focus and more dedicated support day-to-day,” Pettit says of the company expansion. The structural changes are effective immediately, forming part of Global Touring’s five-year growth strategy to strengthen its brands, deepen trade partner support and cement its reputation as a leading small group touring specialist.
