Kiwi Confidence In Europe Returns

European bookings are said to be spiking this week as the announcement of a peace agreement between the US and Iran, which includes plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, eases concerns from clients surrounding long-haul travel.

UTracks’s gm for New Zealand Natalie Tambolash says the response from travellers has been immediate.

“The moment there is greater certainty around flights and global stability, they are ready to commit,” she says of Kiwis. “People still want to travel.”

The booking rebound is not a surprise, as Tambolash says travel has become incredibly resilient.

“After covid, natural disasters, airline strikes and geopolitical events, people have learned to adapt,” she says. “They may take a little longer to book, but they don’t give up on travel.”

And despite the uncertainty, she says its active trips have remained in demand.

Walking and cycling trips in destinations such as France, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the Balkans continue to attract Kiwis, she adds.

Agents can expect pent up demand over the coming weeks, she says, adding that there’s a real sense that people are ready to get on with their lives and enjoy the experiences they have been planning.

“The mood has shifted noticeably,” she says. See more HERE.
