Airalo: A New Agent Revenue Stream?

eSIM platform Airalo is aiming to make clients’ trips overseas a little easier, and offering agents another revenue stream.

The rapidly growing eSIM company offers unlimited data plans in 150 destinations, purchasable on-line within minutes and offering instant connection on arrival, meaning no physical SIM cards and no surprise roaming charges.

This month it has surpassed 30 million customers, with a 193% growth in its unlimited data plans since the third quarter of 2025.

The company attributes the exponential growth to travellers no longer treating connectivity as optional, but rather as something that is as essential as a passport.

The increased demand is also being seen in Oceania. Airalo’s Sunshine Coast-based Oceania partnerships specialist Sally Waghorn told Travel Today the technology works well for Kiwi travellers who, because of New Zealand’s geography, rarely do ‘simple’ trips.

“Their long-haul journeys inherently involve complex, multi-stop itineraries,” she says.

“Instead of clients juggling three different physical SIMs or racking up huge roaming fees across borders, Airalo moves seamlessly with them. The company is also working to make it more appealing for agents, this including the introduction of NZD pricing.

“For Kiwi agents, this is a massive commercial win: you get to solve a major client pain point, add instant value to those big bucket-list bookings, and unlock a brand-new ancillary revenue stream at absolutely zero cost to the business.”
