As the New Zealand Cruise Association (NZCA) kicks off the next phase of its plan to get more ships in New Zealand, industry representatives from across the cruise sector—including those from NZCA—met with government ministers to highlight the importance of cruise.

CLIA points out that the cruise sector is now worth $1.23 billion a year to the New Zealand economy. At the same time, NZCA ceo Jacqui Lloyd says close engagement between industry and government is crucial to achieving a strong cruise economy in New Zealand. “The ministers have provided important recognition of the huge economic importance that cruise tourism has in communities around the country, and together we will work on building the right conditions for cruising to thrive,” she adds.
